Asar Koyu
Asar Koyu (\"fortress cove\") sits on the Datça peninsula, named for the remains of an ancient stone settlement (asar = ruin) on the hill above the anchorage. The cove cuts into a wooded shore for about 350 metres, with the seabed reaching 8-14 metres over sand and weed and good holding for overnight stops. The hill above the cove holds visible terrace walls and scattered cut-stone foundations from a small Carian-era hilltop fort, likely a watch-post on the Knidos approach. The cove offers shelter from the prevailing summer northwesterlies. There is no village, no road access, and no facilities. Asar Koyu is 2 hours from Datça by sail. Season runs May through October.
Recommended duration: ideal for 1-2 days
