Brittany

Brittany (Bretagne) is the northwest French peninsula, the Atlantic-facing limb of France with 2,700 kilometres of coastline — the longest of any French region. Brittany is the standard French Atlantic charter region, with conditions and infrastructure built around larger tides (up to 14 metres at Saint-Malo), stronger winds, and the open ocean swell. The main charter bases are La Trinité-sur-Mer (a sailing village on the south coast, with the start line of the Vendée Globe round-the-world race), Vannes on the protected Gulf of Morbihan inland sea, and Saint-Malo on the north Channel coast (Channel Islands access). Charter highlights include Belle-Île (the largest Breton island, with Côte Sauvage cliffs), the lighthouse-dotted Glénan Islands, and the medieval town of Concarneau. Season runs May through September.
