Desroches Island is the only inhabited island of the Amirantes group of outer-Seychelles atolls — 230 kilometres southwest of Mahé, the closest cluster of the outer Seychelles to the granitic inner islands. The 4-kilometre long flat coral island sits on the western edge of a 30-kilometre coral atoll, with a fringing reef on the seaward side that drops vertically to 1,000 metres of open Indian Ocean (one of the most dramatic dive walls in the western Indian Ocean). The single development is the Four Seasons Resort Seychelles at Desroches Island, a 71-villa property on the west coast with a private airstrip. The island's south coast holds a turtle hatchery and a coconut-plantation history dating to 1827. Desroches is 4 hours from Mahé by yacht delivery. Season runs year-round.
