The Eastern Aegean Islands are the Greek islands closest to Turkey's Aegean coast — a north-south string of five main islands that runs parallel to the Anatolian shore, from Lesbos at the north (closest to the Dardanelles) down through Chios (famous for mastiha resin), Samos (Pythagoras' birthplace, with sweet Muscat wine), Ikaria (Blue Zone island, statistical longevity hub), and the smaller Fourni archipelago. Unlike the central Cyclades, these islands are larger and greener, with mountains rising to 1,000+ metres and pine and chestnut forests inland. The east coasts hold the working harbours and town life; the west coasts hold remote beaches. Charter route lengths are longer — 30-60 nautical miles between major islands — making this a 7-10 day route. Charter base at Samos. Season runs May through October.
