Galataport is the modern cruise terminal and waterfront mixed-use development at Karaköy, on the European shore of the Bosphorus at the entry to the Golden Horn. The port opened in 2021 on the site of the old Salıpazarı cargo dock, with a 1,200-metre seafront promenade and an underground cruise terminal (the world's first) that keeps the surface entirely open to pedestrians. The complex holds Istanbul Modern (Renzo Piano-designed contemporary art museum) on the seafront. Galataport sits 800 metres south of the Galata Tower and 1 kilometre north across the Golden Horn from Topkapı Palace, with direct sail access up the Bosphorus past Dolmabahçe Palace (10 minutes north) and the 19th-century imperial yali waterfront mansions. Galataport is the standard Bosphorus charter departure point. Season runs April through November.
