Koh Lanta is a 30-kilometre-long Thai Andaman island, 70 kilometres south of Krabi — the largest island in the Krabi province archipelago. The local archipelago is in fact two main islands (Koh Lanta Yai south and Koh Lanta Noi north) plus dozens of small offshore reef islets. The main settlement is Saladan at the north tip, with the ferry pier and the small-boat charter hub. The 9-kilometre west coast of Koh Lanta Yai holds the consecutive sand beaches (Klong Dao, Long Beach, Klong Khong, Klong Nin, Kantiang Bay) that the island is famous for. Day-sail routes south reach the protected Koh Rok and Koh Haa marine park islands (snorkel and dive sites) in 90 minutes. Koh Lanta is 3 hours from Krabi and 5 hours from Phuket. Season runs November through April.
