Monaco

Monaco is the second-smallest country in the world at 2 square kilometres — but its Port Hercules is one of the Mediterranean's most concentrated megayacht harbours, sheltered behind a 350-metre floating breakwater and overlooked by the 13th-century Prince's Palace on the Rock. The bay handles 700 berths plus the largest cruising yachts. The same waterfront becomes the Formula 1 circuit for the Grand Prix every May, with grandstands erected on the quay where boats normally moor. The Casino de Monte-Carlo, the Belle Époque hotels at Place du Casino, and the Larvotto beach all sit within walking distance. Monaco is 20 minutes from Nice by sail. Season runs April through October.
