Koca Ada

Koca Ada sits off the southern edge of the Marmaris peninsula — an uninhabited rocky island ringed by clear shallow water and small protected coves on its leeward side. There's nothing on the island itself but goats and pine; the appeal is what surrounds it. Snorkelling along the rock walls reveals octopus, sea urchins, and the occasional turtle, and the water clarity is the best in the area thanks to the open Aegean current that keeps it flushed. Most boats stop for a single-day swim and lunch anchorage on the way between Marmaris and the Hisarönü Gulf, then move on by evening. Season runs May through October; the leeward side stays calm even on the windiest days.
