Hayman Island

Hayman Island is the northernmost of the Whitsunday Islands, a 4-square-kilometre privately-owned island that has held a single resort since 1950 — currently the InterContinental Hayman Island Resort. The resort occupies the south coast (the only flat ground on the otherwise mountainous island, with the 250-metre Cook's Lookout peak in the centre), with a 166-room main building, three private beaches, and a deep-water yacht harbour. The position 7 kilometres outside the main Whitsundays cluster means Hayman has its own surrounding reef shelf, with fewer visiting yachts than the inner-bay anchorages — the standard Whitsundays charter \"luxury overnight\" stop. The neighbouring small Langford Reef sand cay (uninhabited, half-tide islet) sits 1 kilometre south of Hayman. Hayman is 90 minutes from Hamilton Island by sail. Season runs April through November.

Recommended duration: ideal for 1 days
