Raa Atoll sits in the far north of the Maldives, 160 kilometres north of Malé. The atoll is among the least-developed of the Maldives' charter-accessible atolls, with only 4 resort islands across an 80-kilometre stretch — most of the 88 islands and submerged reefs are uninhabited or remain home to small traditional fishing villages. The lower-traffic environment makes Raa one of the best-preserved reef ecosystems in the country, with healthier coral cover (most other atolls were heavily bleached in 2016 and 2024) and higher pelagic fish density. The resort islands include Maamunagau, Adaaran Select Meedhupparu, and the larger Furaveri. Day-sail routes south reach Baa Atoll and the Hanifaru manta aggregation in 3 hours. Raa is 8 hours from Malé by sail. Season runs year-round; peak November-April.
