Spargi Island

Spargi is the third-largest island in the La Maddalena Archipelago National Park, between Sardinia and Corsica — a 4.2-square-kilometre uninhabited granite island west of La Maddalena town and Caprera. The island is wrapped in the wind-rounded white granite boulders that define the archipelago, with quiet sheltered anchorages on the south coast: Cala Corsara (the main charter day-stop, with white-sand and pink-tinged granite beaches), Cala Granara, and Cala Soraya. The narrow Spargi channel between the island and Razzoli to the north is a popular sheltered transit. The island holds the wreck of a Roman trading ship discovered in 1958 (with a cargo of amphorae from the 2nd century BC), and is part of the strict La Maddalena marine park protection rules. Spargi is 30 minutes from La Maddalena and 60 minutes from Porto Cervo by sail. Season runs May through October.

Recommended duration: ideal for 1 days
