Saronic Islands

The Saronic Islands are the closest Greek archipelago to Athens, in the Saronic Gulf — a small chain of five main islands that work as a short-route alternative to the more open Cyclades crossing. The islands are Aegina (closest to Athens, with the Temple of Aphaia), Poros (sheltered narrow channel between island and Peloponnese mainland), Hydra (car-free 18th-century shipowner mansions around a horseshoe harbour), and Spetses (the cosmopolitan island, with Old and New Harbours). Charter routes loop in 4-5 days, with shorter inter-island hops than any other Greek archipelago — most legs under 90 minutes. The sheltered position protects the Saronic from the worst of the summer meltemi. Charter base at Athens (Alimos Marina). Season runs April through October.

Recommended duration: ideal for 1 days
