Skiathos: The Jewel of the Sporades
Known for its golden beaches, lush landscapes, and vibrant nightlife, Skiathos offers an irresistible blend of relaxation and excitement.
Skiathos, with its golden sandy beaches, lush pine forests, and vibrant nightlife, is the crown jewel of the Sporades Islands. From the iconic Koukounaries Beach to the charming Old Port, the island invites you to immerse yourself in its breathtaking landscapes and authentic Greek charm. Its lively streets, historic monasteries, and crystal-clear waters make Skiathos an unforgettable destination.
Marina Skiathos offers around 70 berths on a pontoon and a pier to the west, but not all have mooring lines—bringing your own anchor is advisable. Nighttime entry is easy due to excellent lighting. Electricity and water are available but may not always be reliable, and there are no dedicated sanitary facilities. Fuel is delivered by tanker.
For supplies, a small supermarket is near the pier, with a larger one a short walk north. Fresh seafood is available at the fish market in the town’s south.
Berthing: Mooring line, stern-to.
Facilities: Diver, electricity, fuel station, water.
The Old Port, located on the western edge of Chora, is one of Skiathos's most charming spots, especially popular for its evening ambiance. Lined with cozy bars featuring the island’s famous "cushions," it’s the perfect place to enjoy the vibrant nightlife or a serene sunset walk by the sea. The romantic atmosphere is enhanced by the Aegean waters dotted with fishing and tourist boats, traditional architecture, and the verdant Bourtzi peninsula, which divides the port into two. Visitors can also savor delicious dining options with stunning views of the sea and Bourtzi.
Koukounaries Beach, often called "the Golden Sand Beach," is one of Skiathos’s most famous destinations. Framed by a lush pine forest, its soft sands and crystal-clear waters create a serene haven for sunbathing, swimming, and water sports. With nearby tavernas and stunning sunsets, Koukounaries promises an unforgettable day by the sea.
Bourtzi, the lush peninsula dividing Skiathos port into two, is a peaceful escape with panoramic sea views. Once home to a Venetian fortress, it now hosts a cultural center and a charming café, making it a favorite spot for relaxation. Surrounded by pine trees, Bourtzi offers a serene setting for a stroll, while its historic ambiance adds to its charm. It's a must-visit for those seeking both tranquility and a touch of history.
