Tuscany

Tuscany holds 400 kilometres of Italian Tyrrhenian coast and the seven islands of the Tuscan Archipelago — the largest national park in Europe by sea area, covering 80,000 hectares of land and water from the Ligurian border in the north to the Argentario peninsula in the south. The mainland coast holds the marinas at Viareggio (megayacht refit hub), Livorno (working port and ferry base for Elba), and Porto Santo Stefano on the Argentario peninsula. The archipelago islands include Elba (largest, Napoleon's exile), Giglio, Capraia, Montecristo (strict nature reserve), Pianosa (former prison), Gorgona and Giannutri. The cuisine — Tuscan wine, olive oil, bread — is closer to land than sea. Tuscan routes run 5-7 days. Season runs April through October.

Recommended duration: ideal for 2 days
