Notes to sailors
  • When approaching the Bay of Milos, it is important to be aware of the rocks located at the eastern entrance of the bay and near Cape Bombarda. In the presence of a strong meltemi, there can be large and confused seas between the Arcadia islets and the northernmost point of the island. Additionally, strong gusts can occur near Cape Bombarda during a strong meltemi.

  • Voudhia is a cove located approximately 1 nautical mile south of Pollonia. It provides excellent shelter from the Meltemi and is often visited by small ships to load oars. The recommended anchorage depth is between 5 to 8 meters.

  • Provatas Bay is a sandy bay with two heads, situated in the middle of the island's south coast. There is plenty of space for yachts to anchor, and the recommended anchorage depth is between 3 to 7 meters on sand. The bay offers good protection from northerly Meltemi winds but is entirely exposed to the south.
