Malé
The Vibrant Capital of the Maldives
Malé, the bustling capital of the Maldives, is a dynamic hub that offers a blend of modernity and tradition. Known for its colorful buildings and lively streets, this compact city is home to iconic landmarks such as the Maldives National Museum, the Friday Mosque (Hukuru Miskiy), and the Presidential Palace. Visitors can stroll through the vibrant Malé Market to experience the local culture or enjoy fresh seafood at waterfront cafes. Despite its urban atmosphere, Malé is surrounded by crystal-clear waters, making it a gateway to the idyllic islands and atolls of the Maldives. Whether you’re exploring its rich history or preparing for an island adventure, Malé is a captivating introduction to this tropical paradise.
Ari Atoll
Ari Atoll is the largest atoll in the Maldives — a 90-kilometre north-south ring west of Malé, with 105 islands and dozens of submerged reefs. The southern Ari (Alifu Dhaalu) is the only place in the Maldives where whale sharks aggregate year-round rather than seasonally — the 8-12 metre filter-feeders cruise along the outer reef wall off Maamigili Island in 5-30 metres of water, with a 90% sighting rate on snorkel trips. The atoll also holds the densest manta-ray cleaning stations in the Maldives (Madivaru Faru, Hukuruelhi Faru). The west-coast dive sites are dramatic outer-reef wall drops, with the inner lagoon (the size of an Italian region) holding white-sand bommies and shallow reef gardens. The atoll has 30+ resort islands. Ari is 90 minutes from South Malé by sail. Season runs year-round.
Dhigurah
A Slice of Paradise in the Maldives
Dhigurah, located in the South Ari Atoll, is a stunning island renowned for its long sandy beaches and vibrant marine life. Translating to "long island" in the local Dhivehi language, Dhigurah stretches over 3 kilometers, offering an idyllic escape for those seeking tranquility and natural beauty. The surrounding waters are a diver’s paradise, known for encounters with majestic whale sharks and manta rays. The island’s lush greenery and friendly local community provide a glimpse into authentic Maldivian culture. Whether you're snorkeling in crystal-clear lagoons, relaxing on its pristine shores, or exploring the rich underwater world, Dhigurah promises an unforgettable Maldivian experience.
Maamigili
Gateway to Majestic Marine Life
Nestled in the South Ari Atoll, Maamigili is a charming island that offers an authentic Maldivian experience and a gateway to some of the world's most extraordinary marine life. Known as a hotspot for whale shark sightings, the island attracts divers and snorkelers eager to encounter these gentle giants in their natural habitat. Beyond the underwater adventures, Maamigili is home to a friendly local community, vibrant markets, and serene beaches perfect for relaxation. With its own airport providing convenient access to the Maldives, Maamigili seamlessly blends accessibility, natural beauty, and cultural charm, making it a must-visit destination for both adventure seekers and tranquility lovers.
Dhiffushi
A Tranquil Getaway in the Maldives
Dhiffushi, located in the South Ari Atoll, is a serene island renowned for its unspoiled beauty and welcoming local charm. Surrounded by crystal-clear waters, the island is an ideal destination for snorkeling and diving, offering a chance to explore vibrant coral reefs teeming with marine life. Dhiffushi’s calm atmosphere and pristine beaches make it a perfect spot for relaxation, while its proximity to whale shark and manta ray hotspots ensures unforgettable encounters for marine enthusiasts. Visitors can also immerse themselves in the island's rich culture by interacting with the friendly local community. Whether you're seeking adventure or peace, Dhiffushi offers the best of both worlds in a picture-perfect setting.
Madivaru
A Beach Lover’s Paradise in the Maldives
Madivaru, a stunning gem in the South Ari Atoll, is a dream destination for beach enthusiasts and adventure seekers alike. Renowned for its immaculate beaches adorned with vibrant seashells and lively crabs, Madivaru offers a unique connection to nature's untouched beauty. The island's turquoise waters are perfect for a range of water sports, from paddleboarding and kayaking to snorkeling and swimming. For a touch of luxury, take out a paddleboard, enjoy a glass of champagne, and let the gentle waves carry you into bliss. Whether you’re exploring the shallow shores or relaxing under the Maldivian sun, Madivaru is the epitome of paradise.
Mushimasmigili Thila
Mushimasmigili Thila (also called Fish Head) sits in North Ari Atoll in the Maldives — a submerged reef pinnacle (\"thila\" meaning underwater mountain in Dhivehi) rising from 30 metres of depth to 8 metres below the surface, 1 kilometre west of Mushimasmigili island. The site is internationally one of the top 10 most-rated dive sites in the Maldives, known specifically as a cleaning station where reef sharks (whitetip and grey reef), eagle rays, and Napoleon wrasse gather to be cleaned by smaller wrasse. The submerged pinnacle is a 70-metre-by-30-metre oval with vertical walls dropping to 30 metres, undercut by overhangs and small caves that hold schooling fusiliers. Strong currents — the site is a permit-required Maldives Protected Marine Area. Mushimasmigili Thila is 3 hours from Malé by sail. Season runs year-round; best visibility January-April.
Kurumba
A Luxurious Farewell to the Maldives
Kurumba, just a short distance from Malé, is the perfect destination to end your Maldivian adventure in style. Known for its exclusive private resort, Kurumba offers high-class facilities that guarantee a luxurious experience. Spend your last day indulging in a lavish meal at the island’s renowned restaurants, exploring the well-kept beaches, or relaxing by the crystal-clear waters.
