Attica is the mainland Greek region around Athens, with 90 kilometres of Aegean coastline running from the Saronic Gulf to Cape Sounion — the southern tip where the 5th-century BC Temple of Poseidon sits on a 60-metre cliff above the sea. The Athens coast holds the four main charter marinas — Alimos Marina (1,100 berths, the largest sailing-charter base in the Mediterranean), Flisvos Marina (303 berths, megayachts), Lavrion Marina (the Cycladic-route base east of Athens), and Glyfada. The Athens Riviera (Vouliagmeni, Glyfada, Voula) holds the closest beach restaurants and the prized coastal real estate. From any Attica marina, the Saronic Islands are 60-90 minutes south and the Cyclades 5-6 hours southeast by sail. Season runs April through October.
