Croatia

Croatia has over 1,000 islands along its Adriatic coast, with only 67 inhabited — a sailing coast you could spend years on. The southern Dalmatian hub runs DubrovnikKorčulaHvarVis, every island with a different identity: walled old towns, lavender fields, wine villages, naval-base history. Anchorages stay calm thanks to the islands shielding the sea, and you can usually find a cove all to yourself even in peak August. The food is straightforward and good — peka slow-cooked under an iron bell, fresh oysters from Ston, Pošip and Plavac Mali wines. Season runs May through October; June and September stay warm without the August yacht traffic.

Recommended duration: ideal for 7-10 days
