Irakleia

Irakleia is the smallest of the inhabited Small Cyclades — a cluster of four islets south of Naxos with combined permanent population under 500. The main harbour at Agios Georgios handles a few yachts at a time, with two tavernas and a single shop on the quay. The island's draw beyond the quiet is the Cave of Saint John, a deep limestone cavern with stalactites accessible on a 2-hour hike from the village. Beaches at Livadi and Alimia reach white sand and turquoise water with no facilities — bring shade and water. Irakleia is 90 minutes from Naxos. Season runs May through October.
