Krabi is a Thai province on the Andaman coast of southern Thailand, opposite Phuket — separated by the open Phang Nga Bay with its distinctive vertical limestone karst pillars rising from the sea. The mainland coast holds Ao Nang (the main beach resort and small-boat charter base), the cliff-edge village of Railay (accessible only by boat because of the vertical limestone cliffs blocking land access — the world's most-rated rock-climbing wall destination), and the small offshore archipelago of Koh Phi Phi 40 minutes south. The Krabi Town river port 15 kilometres inland holds the daily night market and the limestone Khao Khanab Nam rock pillars at the river mouth. Day-sail routes reach Koh Lanta island in 3 hours south. Krabi is 4 hours from Phuket by sail. Season runs November through April.
