Gümüşlük is the Bodrum peninsula's slow corner — a fishing village built on top of ancient Myndos, whose ruins lie just under the water at the bay's edge. You can swim straight off the boat and snorkel above stone foundations 2,500 years old, then walk to a harbour-side fish restaurant for lunch — the village has built its reputation on simple, fresh seafood, and the menu changes with whatever came off the boats that morning. Tavşan Adası sits across the bay, sometimes reachable on foot when the tide is low, and the sunset over the islet is the day's signature moment. Construction is banned because of the ruins, which means no concrete hotels and no high-rises — the silhouette hasn't changed. Season runs May through October; September is the sweet spot for warm water and quiet evenings.
