Yalıkavak is what Bodrum looked like 30 years ago — a fishing village on the north side of the peninsula that grew into a low-key yacht destination without losing its alleys. The harbour now hosts Palmarina, one of the Mediterranean's premier megayacht docks, with restaurants and boutiques along the waterfront. From the water, the bay opens north toward Geriş and west toward Sandıma's deserted stone village on the hilltop. The wind here is the famous Bodrum meltem — steady afternoon breeze from the north — making the sail to Karaada and the protected coves of the eastern coast easy. Onshore, the village still keeps its old soul: Gümüş Café for breakfast, fish restaurants on the harbour, sunset drinks at a rooftop bar above the marina. Season runs May through October; June and September keep the breeze without the August crush.
