Fethiye is a port city on the south coast of Turkey at the eastern end of the Lycian Riviera, 200 kilometres east of Bodrum — built on the site of the ancient Lycian city of Telmessos (4th-century-BC rock-cut tombs are still visible cut into the cliffs above the harbour). The modern town holds about 90,000 residents and is the main gulet charter base for the Fethiye Gulf — a 50-kilometre-long, 25-kilometre-wide bay enclosed on the south by the long Yedi Burun (\"Seven Capes\") peninsula. The main marina is the Ece Marina in the inner harbour. Within day-sail distance the most-rated stops are Ölüdeniz lagoon 15 kilometres south (the iconic Blue Lagoon), the Twelve Islands (Tersane, Yassıca, Domuz) inside Fethiye Bay, and Butterfly Valley. Fethiye is 90 minutes from Göcek by sail. Season runs May through October; peak July-August.
