Zadar County is the central-north Dalmatian region around the city of Zadar, between Kvarner and Šibenik. The Old Town of Zadar sits on a small peninsula with Roman forum ruins, the 9th-century Saint Donatus rotunda, and the Adriatic-acclaimed Sea Organ (a sound sculpture built into the seafront steps that plays in waves). The coast holds the Marina Dalmacija at Sukošan (1,200 berths, the largest in Croatia) and Marina Zadar at the city centre. Charter routes reach the offshore islands of Pag (lace-making, salty cheese), Ugljan, and the long thin Dugi Otok with the spectacular Telašćica nature park cliffs. Zadar is 3 hours from Šibenik south and 2 hours from Kornati Islands. Season runs April through October.
