Izmir
Izmir is Turkey's third-largest city, on the western Aegean coast at the head of the 50-kilometre Gulf of Izmir. The harbour at Levent Marina holds 110 berths plus the larger Setur Çeşme Altınyunus Marina (300 berths) on the Çeşme peninsula 60 kilometres west. The city itself spreads along the gulf seafront, with the Roman Agora of Smyrna, the Ottoman Kemeralti bazaar quarter, and the seafront Kordon promenade. The Çeşme peninsula west of the city holds the standard summer charter coves — Çeşme, Alaçatı (windsurf-famous Aegean cove), and Ayayorgi. Izmir is the natural Aegean charter base for the north Turkish coast. Izmir is 3 hours from Çeşme by sail. Season runs May through October.
