La Digue's Anse Source d'Argent is the most photographed beach in the world for a reason — pink granite boulders, shallow turquoise water, no road access. Sea turtles nest on protected beaches, whale sharks pass through in season, and giant tortoises wander free on Curieuse. The food is Creole and fresh — grilled red snapper, octopus curry, breadfruit chips. The season runs April through October for the calmest seas; November-March bring warmer water but more rain.
