How do payments work?

There are two main payment options in the system, depending on the host's preferences. Some boats allow for a partial upfront deposit with the remaining balance due on the day of the trip, while others require full payment upfront. During the payment process, you will see if the host requires a card payment or cash payment for the second installment, if applicable.

The Maldives is one country built almost entirely on water — 26 atolls made of 1,192 islands, and only 200 inhabited. A sailing charter is the only way to see more than one or two: hotels lock you to a single island, but the boat lets you move atoll-to-atoll, anchor inside protected lagoons, and stop at uninhabited cays no day-tripper reaches. The water is the headline — average visibility 30 metres, manta rays in Baa Atoll's Hanifaru Bay from May to November, whale sharks year-round in South Ari Atoll, reef sharks at almost every channel pass. Onshore stops mix Maldivian fishing villages with Malé's small old quarter and the resort islands when you want a beach bar. Season runs November through April for calm seas and dry weather; May-October brings monsoon swell and rain.
